I’ve just come back from Ideas Fest 2025 and it was nothing short of mind-blowing. It’s called the Glastonbury of business for a reason. The energy, the people, the conversations, all of it reminded me of one crucial truth: you need to learn how to engineer your luck.
Engineering luck isn’t some mystical thing. It’s about preparation meeting opportunity. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone, saying yes to new experiences and being intentional with your actions. I had powerful conversations with founders about the balance between planning and implementation. Some people are great planners but struggle to take action, while others are doers but lack strategy. Real success comes from mastering both.
I’ve got a five-year plan and I’m reverse-engineering every step. If you don’t have a plan, someone else will make one for you and you’ll end up following their path instead of your own.
At Ideas Fest I saw real-time examples of people creating their own opportunities. One founder literally made a paper plane with a QR code and launched it across the tent just like a story Simon Squibb had told about Richard Branson. That level of boldness stood out. Out of hundreds of people in the room, only one did it. That’s engineering your luck, thinking differently and acting immediately.
It’s not just about hustle. It’s about alignment. I met Daniel Priestley at the event, someone I’ve looked up to for ages. I didn’t ask him for anything, I just thanked him for everything he’s shared and I told him I’m implementing it now. We will meet again, but next time it’ll be on another level. That moment was a result of saying yes to being there, showing up and doing the work.
So if you’re watching this, my challenge to you is: stop waiting. Start showing up. Make it easy for people to find you. When people land on your content, your brand, your work, they need to see that you’re doing what you say you do.
This is how I’m engineering my luck, by being visible, being intentional and sharing my journey. And I hope you’ll do the same.
See you next week!
